Nikki's Story

Nikki is a 10 year old second year 4-H student. Nikki's year did not start out very well because of the loss of her pony. Her parents were able to find her a horse to lease for the year, they found Angel a 9 year old Morgan. Angel is a very forgiving horse that has had little formal training. Although Nikki has been riding almost since birth she was having trouble with some of Angel's issues. There were some suggestions from other people, because of the short amount of time before the beginning of the 4-H Fair, that some of the outdated cowboy methods be used on Angel, of course Michelle, Nikki's mom, would not let that happen. So, Jack and Michelle set out with a plan to help Nikki with Angel. Because of Nikki's hard work, concentration, and determination, it has been an exciting time and the plan is coming together. Angel and Nikki are starting to get a connection and are working well together. The most important part is Jack did not train Angel but gave Nikki exercises to use on Angel and advice. Nikki has taken Angel to some open shows and has done very well. They are looking forward to the fair and hoping to do well.
